change \\freenas to \\nas ?

hi i been using freenas for sometime now with many computers.
i've been looking but can't seem to found how to change \\freenas\nas to something shorter like \\nas
under \nas is where all my files are saved. so is it possible to change \\freenas's name?

i know i can map the network to a drive letter.

i tried that and restarted nas and still didn't work. i've gone over the doc many time but can't find any info on it.

Do you have static IPs assigned by your DHCP server? If so your DHCP server might be setup oddly.

You need to change NetBIOS Name in CIFS settings
