Hi;

Just installed a new downloaded fresh install of 8.3.0 and am in the process of configuring things.
I have just changed the Admin password and have tried to set up a new user, the guide I am following says to set up a new user with the Primary group set to wheel.

The problem is that the option to set Primary Group is greyed out.

Any ideas?

Do you have "Create a new primary group for the user" ticked? If so, it'll automatically create a new group named the same as the user. Untick it to choose an existing group.

This sounds like a plan, I do recal looking at the settings and seeing that it had created a group with the same name as I had selected as the user, ill try again tommorow. Just found a small annoying problem with my new setup though, I changed the mobo for one with 4 x SATA ports from an old PC but it doesn't seem to retain the BIOS settings to boot from USB, I think the CMOS battery maybe dead??

Normally if it's forgetful due to battery it'll be really obvious - complaints at boot time, and the clock will reset to 1980 or some such. If it is, it should be easily fixed - they're almost always just a cr2032 cell in a holder.

It's worth checking for a BIOS update as it's an older board.

CMOS battery is fine and the PC seems to remember the BIOS settings so I can only guess I jumped out of the BIOS without saving the settings??
