I'm trying to delete a dataset. After the warning about it deleting snapshots, I continue to delete, but the deletion silently fails, and the dataset page refreshes showing the snapshot there. (The reason I'm doing this is to recreate my volume as it says the volume is formatted 512 but the drives are 4096 -- I've backed up my data first, of course).

I have uninstalled my one plugin (plex) and deleted the jail. The only service I have running is CIFS. I have deleted the share pointing at the dataset. Still, the dataset won't drop (at least through the web interface).

If this is because there are dependencies (I've no idea what else is left), then it would be good if there was a notification of the dependency.

FWIW, the same behaviour occurred in 9.2.1.2 too.

Any ideas?

Anything related in /var/log/messages? Is there a snapshot or replication task defined for this dataset?

There is a snapshot task defined on the volume of which this dataset is one of several datasets. I'll look in the messages when I get home.

Update: I've found what the problem is - there are still shares defined on the datasets. Simply shutting down the CIFS service permits the dataset to be dropped.

BTW, I now notice that there is a message indicating the failure to drop the dataset, but it's in green at the top of the form - not that obvious considering a failure has occurred.
