Can you mix 512k & 4k Hard drives?

My present server, running Centos 5.5, has two WD Caviar Green EADS 512k format 2TB drives. I wish to add 1 or 2 more 2TB drives for a planned FreeNas build/conversion.

My question is can I mix 4k & "older" format hard drives with an eye of creating a zfs raid array? What performance issues or problems will I encounter?
