Can I encrypt a file on FreeNAS

Hi,
I have used gpg to encrypt files of other NAS units I have used.
Can I use gpg on FreeNAS?
If not, is there an alternative to encrypt a file using a password?

FreeNAS supports encryption at a pool level. This is thoroughly discussed on the manual.

As for file-based encryption, you'd have to use something on your clients to encrypt/decrypt the file.
