Broken "media" user

I opened a defect (https://redmine.ixsystems.com/issues/61098) and they can't figure out how I got into this state.

So my question is, what happens if I re-install FreeNAS on my SATADOM? Will I then have a "clean" user database? What does this look like from pool/jail perspective? Is there a help page on this topic? I didn't see one.

Not sure on the policy for "bumps", but I would still like to find a solution to this. If I were to re-install FreeNAS on my boot drive, would it reset my "media" user, thus fixing the problem of it having the wrong UID? What other affects would it have on my pool?

Why do you want a UID of 816? That is not the default UID for the media user/group.

I could have sworn that was the default UID & GID for the "media" user & group. That is what is detailed here: https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...plugins-write-permissions-to-your-data.27273/

I guess the issue is that since creating this "media" user in the host, I have been creating "media" users & groups in my jails using a UID of 816, so the UID's do not match. I suppose I could adjust the jails to match the host, but my understanding was the host UID was wrong.

Yeah, it is at the default. Here is the commit that added the default media user: https://redmine.ixsystems.com/proje...t/migrations/0024_add_media_user_and_group.py.

@dlavigne that link looks like it is for 9.10. Is this also present for 11.2?

After looking at this a bit more, it looks like the 'media' user is supposed to have a UID of 8675309. Is that correct?
