I have freenas 9.2.1.7 x64 (fdbe9a0) booting from a USB thumb drive.
It is on a Rackspace server
Arima Server
Pheonix Bios
2 x AMD 2356 (quad core)
32GB memory

With no drives in it, boots fine.
With a WD RED WD20EFRX it boots fine.

My problem arises when i put my Seagate Drive(s) in (either one or both) - ST2000DM001.

It hangs just as it is loading the kernel. The BTX loader is seeing the drives as well.

Additional supporting information:
I know the drives are good becuase I can see them during the post.
I can also see them on the same box when booting into Suse.
Just updated the drive Firmware as well.

Any suggestions?
Is it possible the way i have th drives partioned?

Not sure there is a lot of experience with that hardware around. I'd probably try wiping the disks with dban (www.dban.org), or even just zeroing out the first (x) MB. Might be interesting to see if freebsd copes with the drives. Maybe there is some oddball incompatibility.

The devil in me says, sell the seagates, buy more reds. Sell the AMD grab an Intel. Run SUSE? ;) j/k

Good luck. At least you get a bump. :)

Wipe the drives first. Then try again..
