Hey Guys,
So I'm having a hell'uv a time getting Bonnie++ installed on my freenas server. I'm just trying to run some performance benchmarks.
I've got 11.2 stable and I've been reading the guide on how to install a jail but I'm incredibly confused. First off, freeBSD is not my strong suit, I'm more of a windows guy, so that's the first problem. But then I get confused also because 11.2 says you can't create jails not created for 11.2. I'm pretty sure Bonnie++ is an older software so I'm not sure what that means.
I've only been able to find a few documents only that talk about installing Bonnie++ one of them makes me mount the volume via a mac and then run sudo commands, but I'm confused as to why I need to do that. I just want to run bonnie++ from the freenas, is that document saying that the mounted volume is a virtualized instance of the entire pool? No, I don't think so.
I'm trying to run performance bench-marking on my data set to see what it's capable of sustaining to identify how many clients I can connect to it. So I've tried running pkg install bonnie++ but it gets unable to update repository local, error updating reositories!
pkg: file///user/ports/packages/packagesite.txz: No such file or directory
So i'm just really confused. is the bonnie++ pkg preloaded into my install of FreeNAS 11.2? Why do the jails ask me to create a DHCP server? Not only does it ask me to create a DHCP vitrualized NIC, but it wants me to create a range? Is this because it's going to assign my jails a DHCP address? How does the network have anything to do with my bonnie++ jail?
Anyways, please help me so freaking confused.
Best,
Tidal
