Hello,

I'm trying to set up a new virtualized machine for the first time and I'm having trouble with setting up a new user.

However, I'm unable to log into the UI as the user, and I have tried changing the password to no avail.

I am running on TrueNAS-SCALE-22.12.1

I was reading around, and this seems related to an issue this version was similar, but for root.

This turned out kind of gibberish, huh? I guess working on side projects after your dayjob does that.

To clarify:

- I just turned on virtualization on my bios and am launching my first virtualized linux install
- In order to manage it I created a new user and a dataset that the user controls
- I am facing an issue where the vm is screaming about not being able to access `/mnt` and having permission issues
- I decided to try to do this as the user that owns the dataset, and I cannot log in as the created user with the password I used
- Changing the user's password does not work, I simply see a "Username or Password is incorrect." error

Please let me know if you need any more info than that; my husband is the person who set this up, I'm just trying to install a service that requires an OS-level installation and I don't want to do it directly on Truenas.

OK, think I got it figured out! I did not need to set up a zvol beforehand, just needed to make sure the user had a proper home directory specified in it.

OK last update - I got what I needed to work because I don't have to log into the user, but I definitely confirmed that my new user is not able to authenticate, nor can I change the password. Oh well! It's working, that's good enough. Maybe a future bug fix will patch the user password issue.
