I guess I'm getting somewhere this coming weekend, first FreeNAS build, and still studying the manual (and reading all the rest of the guides/bibles linked in members sigs.

I am going to get the Xeon E3-1231V3 Haswell 3.4GHz at the end of July 2019. All I need right now is to get it up and running on 3 x 5TB hard drives while waiting for another 5TB hard drive to come from Tiger Direct this week.

I repurposed an old Antec NSK4480 case and do fan mods to the hard drive area.(Done)

The powersupply is actually a Seasonic S12II platform

Looks good.
How'd you score that mobo -Supermicro X10SL7-F---------------------$205.48
for such a low price? Most places online list it @ $270.

I'm guessing open box, vlad1966.

Also, good price on those 5TB drives.

Good thing the OP's motherboard has the up-to-date BIOS pre-installed, because he would have been f***ed with that CPU otherwise.

Dude, your power supply is gonna suffocate laying on the cooling fan like that :p
Just kidding, I know it didn't get left like that for long, right?

I like the jaunty angle the serial connector is hanging out at.

Of course, I would never have a big dangly ass USB thumb drive hanging off my motherboard. That's just begging to be knocked off.

Sandisk Cruzer Fit 16GB. Juts out like 4mm. That's what I'm talking about.

I scored the mobo off Amazon from a seller selling it new. I played the waiting game and he kept lowering the price till it reached my newegg open box price that I missed out.

The power supply was like that for a whole hour. #realworldstresstest lol. Of course I put everything up after getting logged in via IPMI and kinking out Java problems.

I may have to change the case to Fractal Designs R5 with no window because I can't find all the hard drive screws for the Antec case!
I winged the purchase of the motherboard but it came to me in a Newegg shipping box with plastic airbags, and everything was actually brand new never opened.

My eyebrows were raised seeing how angled up the serial port is. Hopefully I can maybe use it with Cyberpower UPS, but or I may have to purchase a pure sinewave version instead, since power supply would have Active PFC (is probable there would be no problems when the power is out with the current combo)

I guess this looks normal for running badblocks on newly installed WD 5tb drives right? 71 hours in, but I have no idea which drives are being written and reading because the shell output looks messed up to me.

I think I've Tmux'd this screen like 4 or 5 or 6 times. For the life of me, I couldn't press the combo buttons right the first time around, and eventually all the white and green lines disappeared from view because of the random lines of matchname mismatch kept coming up from the desktop I am working with.
Also, I unplugged all of my last year's 4 x 5tb's WD Reds to test out the new set of WD 5TB red's I got this past month. So I have been badblocks testing them the past couple of days. I will let the test run till the end of this weekend.

The screen above is from the Java IPMI, and I assume that's how it's going to look like as long as the tests are running. 4 rows of where the timers are, are moving (counting) and the other lines are not moving and stalled.

I am still trying to wrap my head around Tmux in shell, and the shell inside FreeNAS stopped loading for me, so I am doing this just through the IPMI and checking on the rows where it would report errors everytime before I sleep and when I wake up before going to work in the morning.

If by "shell" you mean the "shell" button in the web GUI, don't. In fact, just pretend that button isn't there. Enable SSH and use an SSH client to connect.

That looks fine. badblocks is going through successive cycles of read and write, and the speeds at the outer edge of the disk are faster than the speeds near the spindle.

By shell inside of FreeNAS gui, partly yes, i can ignore it, because I cannot get it to load up anymore on webpage screen. So I am using the shell outside of the GUI, hence the screenshot above. That shell is the selection pressing #6? After getting to the freenas prompt menu screen.(where it ask you to choose selection, after bootup)

I will see if I can use PuTTy tonight and enabling ssh in the options inside the GUI.

The problem you're seeing at the console is because the system prints a bunch of log messages to the console, some of which are important, but must of which are just chaff. This writes over whatever you're wanting to see there. Connecting via ssh avoids this problem, because you aren't at the console.
