Hi,
I will install FreeNAS this week, new user ... The latest version downlodable is 11.2-U4.1 but in many forum thread, the version 9 appears tu be used.

Does the version 11 is good enough ? Version 9 is usend only because user don't want/need to update ?

It is recommended to use the latest stable version (11.2-U4.1) as it has the latest features, bug fixes, and security updates.

Many users posted about 9 because it was in use for a long time, due to some issues with version 10. The majority of the community has moved forward. The few people still on any revision of 9 are likely just people that don't pay any attention to the system as long as it is working.
I even finally upgraded to FreeNAS 11.2-U4.1 for my home NAS.

9.3.1 was my favourite as i ran it for such a long time and it preformed faultlessly. I only upgraded to 9.10 when my jails stopped updating as FreeBSD 9 was EOL.

Since then I’ve updated slightly more frequently and I’d say most of the 11.x updates have been good and any issues fixed pretty quickly.

If you’re starting from scratch, no reason not to start with the latest stable release.

The 11.2 series works very well, but some very particular computers support only the 11.1 series, which is the last version that uses GRUB as boot loader.
