Hello,
I understand the reasoning behind installing FreeNAS to a USB stick but, I have read that many of them have a short life when using them this way... Looking for input on high quality USB stick drives... Or, would I be better off purchasing a SSD 32 or 64 GB drive for the install?

Thank you for your inputs!!

Sincerely,
Kell

Assuming the extra cost of the SSD and ancillaries (SATA connectivity in the form of HBAs, for instance) is not very significant, an SSD is the better option.

As for USB drives, sticking to a couple of known-good brands, like Lexar/Micron, Toshiba, SanDisk and Corsair usually works well. The tiny SanDisk drives are popular, but also very slow for operations like boot environment management and updates.
