best choice for new disk

Hi,

i actually have a TrueNAS-12.0-U3 system with a pool configured with a vdev mirror of 2 x 4To disks sata 6gbits (seagate for nas)
I used to make periodic snapshots (selected datas) on a 1.5 To disk for security. But this disk break down today.
So i intend to buy new disk and i'd like to test the seagate 4To EXOS 7E8 which is today lower price than ironwolf pro. --> Any advise on it ?

My main question is:
- do i make same thing : one pool with this new disk and use it for snapshot of my 4To pool or
- do i extend my 4to pool with this new disk With this last solution, i'd like to change pool and configure it in raidz1. --> Is it possible ?


What's your opinion ?

You cannot extend an existing VDEV.
