Ok, I'm thinking this is simple: the card is broken... But I could be wrong. I've never flashed one of these before. First, my system:
Build FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201509022158
CPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz
MOBO Supermicro X8dti-f
Memory 16349MB ECC
First and for most, this mobo does not have EFI. So I've had to do this all through DOS.
Clearing the current flash firmware went off without a hitch.
When I applied the new firmware (in DOS, I used the command: sas2flsh -o -f 2118it.bin) it got partway through and hung saying it was in 'RESET state' (see image link below).

I tried the entire process over and over again (yes, what's the definition of insanity?) using different firmware, sas2flsh utilities ect... Eventually, something took, and it worked. I booted FreeNAS, but basically, it wasn't recognized - back to square one. Again, tried doing it a few different ways, different DOS builds... ect. Same thing, hung at one part of the firmware install. Again, EVENTUALLY (for no rhyme or reason), it worked. And FreeNAS actually saw the card... After giving me this error:
However, I didn't want to jump the gun. I restarted FreeNAS, sure enough, card gone again.
I wanted to do the flash on a EFI motherboard, but my other workstation couldn't boot into the shell (Rampage Extreme IV). Does that have something to do with it? I think I read somewhere that it is better to do it in EFI over flash.
Any help would be great.
