Hi,

I have setup to receive emails when HDD temp reach 40degC.
That is working fine. The warning also appears in the ALERT window.

The problem is, when the HDD temp drops below 40degC, the ALERT windows does not seam to update, even if the HDD has been below 40degC for a while (like 24 hours).
When removing the check mark, FreeNAS will stop sending emails, so that defeats the purpose.

Is this a bug, or do I not understand the ALARM window? The manual does not make any reference to this behavior.

EDIT: I am using the most current 9.3 update available as of this post (23 Oct 2015 11:30am).

Thanks.

Please provide the build number for your server. There are situations where you can think you are on the latest build (the updater doesn't say that an update exists when it does).

Cyberjock, I have read the thread you referenced, and FYI, my SMART email works fine. I just got this yesterday:

Code:
Device: /dev/da1 [SAT], Temperature 41 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/41)
Device: /dev/da3 [SAT], Temperature 40 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/40)
Device: /dev/da2 [SAT], Temperature 41 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/41)
Device: /dev/da2 [SAT], Temperature 42 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/42)
Device: /dev/da5 [SAT], Temperature 40 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/40)
Device: /dev/da3 [SAT], Temperature 40 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max 39/40!)
Device: /dev/da0 [SAT], Temperature 40 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/40)
Device: /dev/da5 [SAT], Temperature 41 Celsius reached critical limit of 40 Celsius (Min/Max ??/41)

That's not a SMART email.. that's an alert system email. And what build are you on? Are you using SSL for your emails?

Is there an ETA on when this system alert status would be updated? I am getting the same critical flasher warning after the temperature has dropped with FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201511040813.

The GUI update pop-up replies that an "no updates available". Should I check the freenas.org downloads and manually install if one is avaialble?

Sorry, looks like bugs reported through the FreeNAS web GUI are marked private by default. Fixed now. Not that anything's happened since I reported it 3 months ago. I'd guess that there's no way this will be changed in 9.3. If we're lucky, 10 might work better in this regard.

Looks like the next step for me to implement SMART / HDD temperature scripts for reference that @Bidule0hm made available.
