Buongiorno!
I need to buy a switch for my home network, I want to buy a good one without spending to much money. I don't need too required spec. it must support link aggregations (I think that all support this stuff) and have not less then 8x GB ports... Thanks!! [emoji4]

Your home network will likely not benefit from link aggregation (which not every switch supports anyway)

Yes, the GS108Tv2 is a very competent little switch for what it is. It isn't exactly *pleasant* with a somewhat nonintuitive web UI, but for $70 it's able to do most of the things you'd want even on a larger switch.

That's not how link aggregation works.

Damnnn... It means that I can have 2gb if I use 2 computer and, with my gigabit port in each computer, I transfer at the same time I can use 2 Gbe bandwidth... It isn't true? If it is I go to improve my knowledge, sorry [emoji17]

No worries. I think it's safe to say that we all went through the same stages regarding link aggregation - excitement, confusion, disappointment, anger and acceptance.

And then 10 gigabit. :D
Stop taunting those of us who can't get 10GbE gear because the damned switches all seem to be too loud!

I've got a Dell 5524, a Dell 6624, and a Cisco (something.. I forget what model specifically) and none of them are loud. In fact, I expected them to be loud (especially the Cisco switch) and they are very quiet. They all have run with either no fan speed, or they cycle on for about 20 seconds every 5-10 minutes or so.

What hardware are you using that is so loud?

I'm marking this one up to European sensitivities. He obviously needs to spend more time shooting guns.

I'm not using any switches with fans - mostly because most seem to be rated at ~40dB, even for a simple ~20GbE + 10GbE uplink switch.
Unfortunately, they'd have to end up in the office, where excessive noise is not an option...

Just open them up and snip the fan leads. Bonus: you get a nice warmer for your coffee mug or maybe even a hotplate for making flapjacks.

C'mon you're an engineer right? Engineer a liquid cooling setup for one of them. Maybe put some LEDs on it too.
