Hello there,
I was playing around with the settings of FreeNAS (in a VM sadly), when I encountered the powersaving features used on a disk. Now I know I will be buying WD RED's, and these have some firmware modifications etc.. but that's not concerning my question. ;-)
My question is; what is the difference between those two settings? And are they relying on each other? For example, I've seen people manage to spindown WD RED's using no Advanced Power Management and disk spindown set. So I suppose disk spindown is a 'dumb' timer and Advanced Power Management is giving control to the disk's firmware?
