If I add a mirror to my boot device, and want to be sure the system will boot from either of the devices, some posts say you need to add a bootcode record to the new disk (using gpart), some say you refer to the new device by device ID and others by GPT ID, others say you don't need to do this at all, some say it's added automatically if the disk is added using the GUI (boot->attach) otherwise not.
I'm using 9.10.2-u1 and booting off SSD, the 2nd SSD just arrived in the post. So far I've just used the GUI, so I can't be sure if the 2nd drive would be bootable if the 1st one failed, and, if not, how to fix it, but now having read posts I realise that I'm now even more confused about what is accurate information for the current build :)
Could someone clarify exactly what's needed and, if it varies, then what's needed when?
