Long time lurker, first time poster.

I decide to add more storage to the NAS so I added 4 Intel 100GB SSD 2.5" SATA Intel SSD DC S3700 Series SSDSC2BA100G3P. These drives are connected to an LSI SAS2008-IT product version 10.00.08.00. Also connected to the controller is a Kingston SA400S3 SSD that is used as the boot drive. See below.

sas_controller_drives.JPG

The main data drives which are Seagate IronWolf 4TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD – CMR 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 5900 RPM 64MB Cache for RAID Network Attached Storage, are connected to the motherboard SATA controller. Those are listed as ada0-ada3 in the screen capture below.

Note, that the SAS controller is flashed to IT mode. See the above screen capture.

The screen capture of the Disks page only shows 4 of the 5 SDD devices. The missing device is one the newly added Intel devises.

It's odd that the SAS controller see all five of the SDD drives but that FreeNAS only sees four of them.

Suggestions greatly appreciated,

Sincerely,

Unless I'm reading it wrong, the SAS card looks to have very old firmware on board which may be an issue.

Can you go to the Shell and show the output of 'sas2flash -list' and 'sas2flash -listall'? They'll give you the firmware version, ideally 20.00.07.00. BIOS version doesn't matter unless you're booting from the card (but you can remove it to save a few seconds on boot).

Thanks for the response.

>Can you go to the Shell and show the output of 'sas2flash -list'

Below is the output from sas2flash. I've also included the output from 'mpsutil show all' should that be of any use.

>BIOS version doesn't matter unless you're booting from the card

The boot device is located on the HBA, so I need to BIOS for that.

>the SAS card looks to have very old firmware
I saw that as well and I'm researching how to update it by reading this post.

Don't know if it's germane, but the SSDs are housed in an ICY DOCK MB326SP-B enclosure.

Thanks.
