Hi All,

I understand that a 32-bit architecture is twitchy using ZFS.
I don't have a 64-bit architecture and I'd like to run ZFS/RAID-Z.

I was running UFS/RAID-0 excellently, but my clean RAID-Z install is giving me the classic
kmem panics during initial file tranfers (with ftp and cifs). I have tried the 512M tweaks
with no success. I'm using FreeNAS 8.x.

I need RAID-Z ("Raid 5"). Before I invest countless hours, I simply want to know whether
anyone has stabilized a 32-bit/RAID-Z platform. If 32-bit/RAID-Z just isn't gonna fly, then
give it to me straight ;)

Here's the specs I'm working with:
HP DC7700p
Dual-Core E6600
4GB RAM
4 x 1.5TB Seagate

(Is the current 7-stable any better for 32-bit/RAID-Z?)

Thank you,
Capn' Dave

The E6600 is a 64 bit processor, try installing the x64 version of 8.03 and you should be golden. If you're happy with that, then after 8.03-p1 is ready (Soon), upgrade to that.
