Hi guys!!
I'm working on my first NAS/backup server, but I'm stuck with a question: is it possible to make 2 different raids? I mean, 2 HDDs raid1 and 2 others HDDs in raid1..
thanks!!!
yeah, i'm sorry! well, 4 HDDs in total, but 2 of them in raid1 only for "data" (i.e.) and the other 2 in raid1 for "media"..so, 2 separate groups of HDD copying different data.
if you wish to have 2 different pools, just create your vdev as a mirror and assign unique pool names. they would mount as (for example):
/mnt/data
/mnt/media
It might make more sense to have 4 disks in one zpool ( giving the capacity of 3 disks) and then
create 2 volumes which will be used as "data" and "media"
By manipulating "quota" you can assign (and reassign) the available space between the two volumes, or even
if you like a third and forth.
