11.3 Why is the boot pool created with ashift=9?

Code:
root@freenas-pmh[~]# zdb -C freenas-boot | grep ashift
                ashift: 9

Shouldn't 12 be the default for - like - everything in 2020? My boot pool is on 2 SSDs, I am not sure if 512 bytes is appropriate. And 4k definitely does not hurt.

This is a fresh install of 11.3.

Yes, thanks.

But we already set vfs.zfs.min_auto_ashift=12 for running FreeNAS 11.3 so all newly created data pools get sane defaults. Heck, why oh why doesn't the installer do that, too? We are way past USB for booting today.

I'll save the config, reinstall, and set the parameter at the loader prompt when I have time for an hour or two of downtime ...

Just curious why it would matter for the boot volume?
