Hi guys,

ok I have a Dell R720XD with a quad card Dell BCM57800S

2 ports are 10gb SPF+ and the other 2 are 1gb RJ45

I am using the SPF+ ports. One is going to my 10gb swtich 192.168.1.18

and the other SPF+ port goes directly to m plex server 10.0.0.2

This way my plex server has access to the nas drive without touching the switch.

problem is Im only getting 3.47GB read and write from perf3, but in wondows I only get aroung 200mb while a file is being transfered.

I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCmf7W3uf0I but I do not have a Virtual machine running.

Also I see people turning on promiscuous mode on however I have no idea how to turn this on or what it does.

Please can some one help.

On my plex server I have 2x startech PEX10000SFP . I HAD TO GET A PCIE4X card as my server only had 2 of those ports avaiable.

thanks in adavanced.

It exposes all traffic to a VM, not just what is meant for it. So VLAN or other traffic gets to the VM as well and it's up to the VMs network stack to figure out what is relevant. But since Plex server is not running in a VM on FreeNAS it's probably not relevant here. Unless it runs in a VM on another machine, in case you could try it.

Your network is 10Gb - lower case "b" as in bits - and you listed throughput as GB - upper case "B" as in bytes. If you are indeed getting almost 3.5GB/sec, praise the heavens and don't change anything because it's 3x what you should be getting!
Theoretical max throughput on PCIe 3.0 x4 is around 3.8GB/sec. Factor in overhead and nobody ever reaches theoretical limits, and you're there right now.
Maybe someone else has some more useful input, but right now it looks to me like you're either already at or well beyond your max speed. Or am I missing something here?

Ply it with fruity and/or sugary alcoholic drinks, optionally with a little umbrella in them.
