1000s of DNS querys

Truenas is querying ix-truenas 1000s of times in both A record and AAAA records. This is litterally filling my pihole query log. some with NXDOMAIN and some with no data. What would be the reason behind this. The host has internet connection i can search for updates everything seems to be working but the dns requests are outlandish and annoying.
