Is 24 drives in RaidZ3 with Toshiba N300s safe?
Here, it says that the N300 is only rated for up to 8 drives - I don't really understand what that recommendation is about?
Is me filling our 24 drive bay with 8TB drives with 3-drive redundancy and spares on-hand a bad idea...

I've had FreeNAS running several days and it's performing very well
I have noticed that the last disk in the RAID-Z3 array seems to get almost no utilization. I assume this is normal? I've attached a screenshot from when a scrub was underway, showing the other disks averaging 66...
My original volume consisted of 12 3tb drives in raidz3. I had read that performance is degraded if the capacity is over 80%. So I bought another 12 3tb drives and used them to extend the volume. I did this using the GUI and extended the existing volume by adding the new 12 drives in a raidz3...

I need to setup a FreeNAS server with 16 disks of 8TB. I would like to know what is the best way to configure my array, I need to have at least 95TB available for data.

I have a new system built (thanks for verifying the hardware specs btw) with 12 drives, mixing SAS and SATA controllers, the board is a Supermicro that allows up to 16 drives in total.
- RAM on the system is maxed out. 32 to 64GB RAM. No SSD caches of any kind for ZLOG/ZIL,etc.
