If you're a user of IRC, you've probably got a favorite client.

Speaking of which, if you're not there already, FreeNAS has a chatroom on Freenode.

So would it make me a bad geek if I've never used IRC?

I used to suffer from that. We should start a rehab group.

I think it just means you're not a geek.
Well at least out of the acronym soup that is all things computers I do know what it stands for.

My favorite is probably eSATAp. It's the powered variant of external Serial AT Attachment. Funny how a glorified ISA bus still lives on in a small way.

Though SAS is a good one, too... Serial-Attached Small Computer System Interface. Which is used only on large computers, nowadays.

I love Trillian due to it's support of most, if not all, chat services, endless customization abilities, and plugin support for a wide range of plugins. It appears they're mainly marketing it to business these days, however I've been using it since around 2005.

Oh man, I remember when I used Trillian. It was awesome because I could aggregate my ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, etc. accounts all in the SAME application. I think I stopped using it around 2005 when I stopped using the aforementioned services. :p

It makes you a geek, not a nerd. Geeks make money... nerds use IRC. *ducks* :D

mirc, but now i think the "slack world" is taking over, i know some open source projects, e.g. rocketchat (slack alternative), that work on IRC bridges as well.
