Hello,
I would like to know if there's a procedure to install ClamAV in FreeNAS. I read some of the forums and it seems I need to install it in a Jail, mount the FreeNAS installation in the Jail and scan the files. However, when trying to configure Jail I'm not able to reach the internet to download the packages. Here is what I did so far:

1) Created a dataset for the Jail;
2) Configured Jail (Jails > Configuration) and selected "IPv4 DHCP" option;
3) Added a Jail (Jails > Add Jail) and didn't change any of the default options (autostart and VIMAGE boxes are checked);

With VIMAGE checked, if I run ifconfig I can see only the lo0 configuration;
Without VIMAGE checked, if I run ifconfig I can see all the adapters but I can't reach the internet as well;

Does anybody know how to proceed?

Thanks.

Make sure in your network config in your FreeNAS GUI you have a default gateway set, and nameservers.

Also, if VIMAGE is on, then you will want to make sure the IPv4 default gateway is set in the jail's config screen in the GUI.

BTW, scanning a FreeNAS install with ClamAV is a pointless exercise (there are no FreeBSD malware definitions). If A/V is a requirement, only scan contents of samba shares.

Thanks DrKK,
I'm using DHCP in FreeNAS GUI and also in the Jail's Config Screen. That should be enough, right? What is the purpose of enabling VIMAGE?

Thanks anodos,
Yes, this is what I want to do, scan content of samba shares. So I will install ClamAV in the Jail, map the samba shares and scan them.
