Today I tried to use the shell to move some files between drives and I noticed that the Shell has become very laggy/inconsistent. Sometimes it won't register an input and I will have to hit a key several times before it finally registers. The last time I used the shell (about a week ago it was working fine).

I've checked all the load graphs in reporting, and the CPU usage graph seems higher than it normally is (it's currently sitting at around 20%~).

WebShell? If so, forget about it and stick to SSH.

It never used to be laggy, so why is it all of a sudden being very laggy?
I don't know, but it's infamous for being laggy and unsuitable for anything but the simplest and quickest tasks. Even then, SSH is generally better.

It sounds like you have a Windows server - just restart it and see if it works better. o_O

HTF would we know. You've given us no information regarding your system specs, health of your system, nor what else might be going on (scrubs, SMART tests, ...).

But, as @Ericloewe has already stated, just SSH into it.
