XMRIG and TOR

please no peanut gallery, i know mining on my pathetic little box is dumb, i'm really just trying to learn how to do everything.

I have xmrig setup to mine, all is working well.

When i try to mine through tor to a .onion monero pool, i get

[hashvaultsvg2rinvxz7kos77hdfm6zrd5yco3tx2yh2linsmusfwyad.onion:443] DNS error: "unknown node or service"

i get this with any .onion pool i try to connect to.
i have the same DNS addresses entered into the general network settings in freenas webui, and in both wan and lan on my ubiquity USG.

i believe i have tor configured correctly, this:

successfully returns data.

this seems like the required noob thing to say to end my post, but it's obvious if i am posting here:
i have no idea what i am doing wrong!
