Hi
I have a Supermicro X10SDV 8 core 16 thread motherboard, with D-1540 CPU running at 2ghz (2.6ghz turbo) and wanted to use it as a FreeNAS host.
It has 32gb RDIMM already, but I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be able to saturate a 10GbE connection, using SMB to an iMac Pro workstation?
Assumption is that the underlying disk pool can keep up, and file sizes are around 50mb.
Appreciate its a little vague, but apart from this mobo, I don’t have any 10GbE equipment yet to test this on, I just want to know if its worth using this board in readiness for 10GbE later this year or if clockspeed is insufficient for 10GbE CIFS?
Many thanks
