I'm new to FreeNAS but not new to servers or IT by any stretch of the imagination. I'm really enjoying my FreeNAS setup, but I'm having a weird "issue". I've been searching for an answer for this for about a week via Google and already even posted a thread on Reddit to no avail. So, here's what's going on.

I have 5 x 3TB drives in a RAIDZ configuration. This is working well for me and means that I have just under 12TB of usable space available. I have copied about 3TB of data to the CIFS share and that's working great. Here's what's weird: in Windows, I have the shares (each share is assigned to a separate dataset) mapped as network drives as port of my AD policies. They map just fine BUT instead of showing they are 12TB drives with about 25% utilized, they show that they are 8.5TB drives and then the percentage is different for each share but is representative of how much space that particular share (dataset) is consuming out of the entire available space.

That's an image of the shares. Hopefully I have been able to articulate my "issue." It's not so much an issue as it is an annoyance but I am curious if there is some way to make it "normal" again. Thank you!

It's working properly and you can't change it to be normal since it is normal the way it is. The total space is the amount of space remaining plus the amount of space used by that dataset. This is because each dataset is it's own filesystem and doesn't know anything about the other datasets.
