What does "Remove Recovery Key" do?

I'm running FreeNas FreeNAS-11.1-U7 and have encrypted volumes. My question is what does the "Remove recovery key" button do? It is found under Storage / Volumes. Here is what it looks like:

I get that it removes the recovery key but why would one want to do that? If I were to happen to click on it and then enter the admin password at the successive prompt, I presume the system would remove the recovery key from that volume. But what isn't clear to me is the significance of this. What are the implications of having removed a recovery key from a volume? And again, why would one want to do this?

After I RTFM :p, I think I've found answers my questions:

Here is what the FreeNAS® 11.1-U7 User Guide has to say:
Remove recovery key: Typically this is only performed when the administrator suspects that the current recovery key may be compromised. Immediately create a new passphrase and recovery key.
