I am sure there must be a buffer fix somewhere.
Anybody using tape?

Thanks in advance
Phil

'fixed'

The error is a very badly worded informational message

The internal buffer is 131072, the message is really saying that that is the amount of buffer left, not that the buffer is too small.

So now I have wiped my old bacula backups, erased 24 tapes successfully in a Bacula jail from the command line and started bacula, waiting for tapes. I will add these to the pool and off we go! It will be curious to see the speed I will get, since the 100G buffer it will create will not need network to get the data.

Do you have a guide you followed, or perhaps a writeup of what you did?

I'm interested in this setup. I know at least a few people have got this to work, but I'm hesitant to pull the plug on the drive and tapes without something more concrete to work from.

Thanks!

I used dan langilles guide from his blog. But it really wasnt necessary with 9.10

The devices showed up without changes to devfs stuff as he described. I plugged in the drive /changer. Reboot nas. It saw ch0 and sao and nsa0. So did the bacula jail I had setup.

Then Put the nsa0 in my bacula config and /dev/pass1 (the connector device for ch0) and built the port for mtx in my backup jail

Mtx works and i cleared 24 tapes overnight

Tonight I will start bacula clean and see my speeds
