Hello ppl,

I am just getting into the NAS world and decided to go the DIY route. I put together some hardware for the NAS, but realized something a little bit late.

The MB that I chose, Supermicro X10SLV-Q, has 1 mSATA/mPCIE and 4 SATA ports. I will be going for a RAID 10, software based and use the mPCIE port with a small 24GB SSD for the OS. However, the SSD I received was a mSATA and the MB shares the mSATA with one of the 4 SATA ports. That means I wont be able to do a RAID 10 without a HBA.

I would like to learn, from someone who understands the MB, that if I get a mPCIE SSD instead of the mSATA SSD, will it still share the SATA port or will it start using the PCIE lane?

Thank you.

That board does not support ECC.

As for your question, read the manual. It should explain the PCI-e topology.

I did read the manual, its not clear on the usage of mini PCIE based SSDs and how that will effect the shared SATA port.

Well, if it's a PCI-e SSD, it'll use PCI-e, I'd guess.
