SSH Troubles

Previous to this weekend I could ssh into FreeNAS fine with a account I added. Now the only ssh login that works is root. Which I would rather leave disabled. When I connect and login with username it asks for password, if I enter the correct pass it immediately terminates the session. I have tried from many different devices. In the auth.log it says password accepted, closed at request of user. Any help is greatly appreciated!

/var/log/messages should give the reason for the auth/connection failure.

I got home, looked through logs, server restarted for some unknown reason this morning and the last message was right after the restart. It said syslog stopped. I restarted and could not get syslog to run, kept saying exiting on 6, core dump. To make things easy I just reinstalled and restored a config I had from last week. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for the response though.
