I have an application where a customer is wanting to have a file store where they can maintain bi-weekly snapshots as backups so I thought of setting up a ZFS share for them specifically using FreeNAS.
We were thinking of providing them a FreeNAS Virtual Machine which is backed by an underlying hardware RAID array. Is there any reason not to just use a single disk for ZFS to get the snap-shotting capabilities since it is already on RAID or would it make sense to setup raidz1 or something else?
Thanks,
Eric
