Hi there!

First of all thank you for the really helpful community. Unfortunately for this question I couldn´t find sastifying answers.

Seeing the prices of SFP28 25G switches makes me wonder if I could spare them out.

Is there a way with an actual AsRock Motherboard (or maybe another) to just plug in my computer (Mac Studio with SFP28),
and the router from my interner provider (WAN or LAN 1GB connection), and then go with just one SFP28 cable to the MacStudio?
Without a pricey SFP28 switch?

Thank you very much in advance,
kind regards,
Mircea Adrian.

You think they're bad? Don't even glance at the prices of 10GBase-T switches...

So you want to connect two devices directly without a switch? Just connect them directly and make sure to use a different subnet for the 25GbE NICs. Keep both on the slower network as well.

Thanks for the fast response.
Yes i want to connect this two devices together -> the internet signal from my provider, and my computer.
Ok nice that sounds pretty easy with the different subnet´s.

I´m sorry but I don´t understand your advise to keept them booth on the slower network..

Connect the devices to both networks, so that they can use the slow network for most things while the two fast devices can communicate over the fast network between themselves.
