I got a question about raidz1 and raidz2

If I make a Raidz1 pool with 3 disk and later expand with another raidz with 3 disks.

So i will have 2 x Raidz pools. How many disks can fail then ? 1 or 2 ?

If lets say i got 2 x Raidz2 pools. How many disks can fail ? 2 or 4 ?

Just to clarify your wording.. your RAIDZ1 is technically a vdev. I know alot of forum chat talks like zpool=vdev but I think that's because most people only do 1 vdev so we get used to the incorrect terminology.

With 2xvdevs of RAIDZ1 you can have up to 1 disk failure in each vdev at the same time for a total of 2 disks. Note that you shouldn't really think of this as 2 disk protection because if you lose 2 disks in the same vdev you will lose everything in the zpool.

For RAIDZ2 just double the number of disks that can fail as opposed to RAIDZ1.
