Even a UPS can't protect from inadvertently pulling the cord out of your power supply. 
I only have one pool, which contains all my data. Right now, it's unavailable. Logging into the GUI I see the alert: "Pool WDred-4TB-2disks state is UNKNOWN" And I'm stumped. Searching the forums indicates issues with RAID or encryption, but this pool had no encryption on it and there's no raid involved.
My pool appears, but no disks are listed:
