Hi,

we have installed FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE five weeks ago. It ran like a charm for the first few weeks, but since last week we have problems with the NFSv4 shares. Every second day, the NFS daemon process is stuck with "D" (disk wait). The process can't be killed neither the system can be rebooted. We have to switch it off an on again by hand. This happens around midnight.

ZFS snapshots are taken at 10 and 11 pm every day. The logs don't show what might happened before NFSd got stuck.

First we thought, the issue was caused by the latest (NFS + Kerberos) updates but switching back to a state before those two updates didn't make a difference.

Does this ring a bell to anyone? Or do you have any advice what we could try?

Thanks!

From the log I know that the config is reloaded at midnight every night on the 9.3:
Code:
Feb 20 00:00:00 freenas syslog-ng[1743]: Configuration reload request received, reloading configuration;

(and as an aside I'm curious to know why?) so it might be that but it might not, that's all I know, hope it can help.

Thank you. I would expect a stuck NFS daemon every night then. But it happens every other night.

What hardware and build are you using?

I know several people using NFSv4 (not sure about directory services though) and they are using it 24x7.
