Im trying to learn new things so instead off bying a NAS i thought i would try this. I have a old acer pc dual core 8 gig of memory 128 gig NVME and 1 tb hd. So i thought i try and use that just to learn.

I download the iso used Rufus to put the image onto a 64 gig USB 2 key which ive used for Ubuntu and Mint so i know its good.

Booted from usb key in legacy mode. It freezes on Mask s left for over a hour incase i was just being to eager.

Tried 2 dif iso incase one was corrupted and 4 dif Usb keys nothing

Please explain in simple english as it needs to match the reciprocant :)

It could be that your hardware is sufficiently old (or running a BIOS that is) to be unable to run the FreeBSD bootloader.

You could try getting hold of a copy of the FreeNAS 11.1 installer and see if that runs (it uses GRUB). (if updating the BIOS isn't possible or doesn't improve the situation)
