I started off by installing the current release, 9.2.1.2 x64, all internal drives connected to an LSI controller formated fine, and were setup as ZFS. I added the Areca 1320 controller (And used the Arc-1320 driver for freenas on the Areca website) connected to the Areca 8026 expander and that is where the issues started. I can't seem to do anything with the 5 drives connected to the expander. They all show up fine, but when attempting to format or create ZFS volumes the web interface hangs and the following cycles through the console.

I installed 9.1.1 with the same result. I installed nas4free and a similar issue occurred. I installed Windows Server 2012r2 thinking my hardware was in some way faulty, but that worked fine, probably because the driver is different. I'm guessing the problem is with the driver, but I don't know how to proceed.

I appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. I am glad to provide any more information or test anything. The system is currently running 9.1.1, but I can update, etc.

Thanks,
Chad

I don't think they are related, as that bug mentioned not being able to see the drives, whereas I can. But I most certainly would test any new driver, as it couldn't hurt my situation.

I forgot to mention that I tried a nightly alpha build also, with no luck, but I believe I copied the existing driver from the Areca website to that build and used it. I didn't realize till the last install I did that the arcsas driver is included and just a tunable needs to be added to enable it. (Although it was broken in some builds, as I read in the forum, and experienced with my 9.1.1 install).

I just confirmed the file listed in that bug as being fixed was the file I had been using, as its now present on the Areca website. It did not work for me.
