I've searched these forums and couldn't find anyone with a similar situation so here goes:
I have a 5 drive RAIDZ1 pool. From time to time seemingly random folders and files "disappear". zpool status shows the proper size, but a zfs list shows the used and avail sizes as quite a bit smaller than normal.
For example, a proper zfs list shows:
[root@freenas] ~# zfs list
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
D0 3.94T 3.19T 3.94T /mnt/D0
Then, after I notice these "missing" folders/files, a zfs list will show USED as 284GB and AVAIL as 3TB. It's almost as if half my pool disappears.
I'm able to recover these files/folders by rolling back to an earlier snapshot but I'm quite concerned that I don't have an answer for this.
Each drive's smart tests appear okay, and there are no errors in /var/log/messages nor dmesg. camcontrol devlist appears to be okay.
Any thoughts or suggestions on where to go from here? The issue happens about once a month.
