Hello,
I am now lurking some time here and have finally decided to build my first NAS.
The NAS is mostly for Storage and i want it to handle 1-2 HD Streams via Plex with transcoding but i maybe want to run Couch Potato and other Plugins later.
These are so far my parts, any feedback or parts recommandations are greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't mind the cost going a bit down but als tried to keep it upgradable.
I live in Switzerland and it was pretty hard to find a reasonable priced ECC Ram which wasn't Kingston.

1x Crucial Memory DDR3-1600 8GB ECC Unbuffered CL11
Hersteller-Nr:CT102472BD160B
CHF 106.90.-
Super Micro X10SLM-F (LGA 1150, Intel C224, µATX)
CHF 201.–/ My Shop has also a used one for 178 CHF which i might take to lower cost a bit.
Intel Core i3 4130 BOX (LGA 1150, 3.40GHz)
CHF 125.– I choosed this CPU because it supports QuickSync Video,AES IS and ECC Memory.
Fractal Node 804
CHF 123.– Seems to be a good choose for the size without going ITX. Would have gone for the Corsair Air 240 but there aren't enough 3,5 HDD Slots and SSD are still too pricey for me with a large Capacity.
Corsair CS550M (550W) /
I also have a old 550 Watt Thermatalke PSU which i could use .
CHF 89.40
Transcend JetFlash 780 (8GB, USB 3.0, Schwarz)
For the FreeNAS OS
CHF 16.60
2 x WD Red (2000GB, 3.5", NAS)
Should be enough for the start more HDD's will be uprgraded later.
CHF 216.–
886.90 CHF
Also i was wondering if could set Ubuntu as second OS and throw in a ATI HD5570
which i have laying around for small gaming, watching movies and browsing the web.
Is there any big diffrence between USB2.0 and 3.0 as boot drive?
