Hello, i am very new to truenas. I just got it up and running today. I have been running a Plex server on ubuntu for a while now and have gotten pretty comfortable getting things to work there when an issue pops up. But im moving everything over to a new system with truenas on it and i am honestly just stumped at how i can put all of my movies and tv shows onto the pool i created. I have plugged in an external hard drive with the videod on it but i dont know how i would access the external drive and import all of the videos into the pool. Sorry if this is a stupid question i am just having a hard time finding an answer online. Thanks for your help!

If you already have the video files on the external disk, it seems like the "import disk" page in the UI would be the thing to use.

Ah crap i just realized that my external drive is setup with ext4 filesystem and that is not supported by the import tool. Ill have to wait til i can shut down my ubuntu server and plug the drives directly into the truenas server. Thanks for the quick replies!

Why don't you transfer the files over the network?
Im still to much of noob haha. Im not good with setting up smb or ftp (or a lot of other network stuff) so i honestly have been walking around problems that could easily be solved by using a network. ive been getting a lot more comfortable recently. Setting up truenas caused some things to click about networking but theres still just so much i dont understand that a lot of things scare me to mess with because how things have gone in the past sometimes haha.
