I had an active CIFS share in Freenas8 pulled out the OS flash drive upgraded to a new version intending to destroy the old volume and create a new one.

To my suprise when I booted up the new OS (the old configs where NOT saved btw) my old CIFS share was still active in windows.

When I try to create a new share none of the disks show up as options in the volume manager (I suspect because freenas has them reserved for the old volume some how)

I can't delete the old volume because it doesn't show up in the UI.

I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

All you have to do is "import" your volume. Your data is still on the drives so don't worry. However your config file is a different story. You didn't really say how you upgraded. If you upgraded via the GUI(the easiest and in my opinion the preferred way) then the config file is still around. But if you wiped the USB drive then its obviously gone.

If you don't have a backup of your config(you are supposed to make a backup of your config before upgrades JUST in case something goes wrong) then you may be stuck recreating everything.
