Hello.
First of all I want to apologize for being a noob basically. I am asking this question because I didn't find a clear answer anywhere and I need a solution for my problem. I will try to be as clear as possible in what I ask.
What I want to achieve: Backup of all the files on the storage (freenas) using a Windows friendly client (Veeam is an option but not mandatory). I need to see the files in a friendly way using windows explorer when needed. Backup needs to be automatic and differential.
What I have now: Dell PowerEdge R330 server with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1220 v6 @ 3.00GHz, 8 Gb RAM, FreeNAS-11-STABLE installed on USB, 2x1 Tb Storage, running on software raid. 1 Volume, 3 Windows shares, about 120 Gb of data on it. Running on local network.
Current backup solution: Snapshot replication on a second Freenas server.
Problems I have: Even though I have the snapshots on the second server, there are only snapshots there and diferential replication tasks, I don't know how to view the files and explore them if needed. Several people are using the server and if someone messes up something I don't know how to recover the files.
How I want it to work: I also have a windows share server in the same network and I use Veeam to backup my data from that one. Using Veeam I can access the files and view them from Windows machines in the network. I want to do the same thing with this Freenas server. All clients are using Windows, all shares are SMB, so I need a Windows-friendly backup solution. The data is sensitive and needs to stay on the internal network, so I can't use any cloud-based services.
If anyone can provide a solution, please tell me a step-by-step guide on how to implement it (sorry again for being a noob).
Thank you
