FreeNAS and Gitolite

Hey all,

After searching the Google, I have found little, if even relevant, information about the use of Gitolite on FreeNAS. I understand that a Port Jail can be configured with Git running, but has anyone successfully gotten Gitolite installed as well?

It's in the FreeBSD ports collection, so it should be easy to install the package or port into a ports jail.

Thanks for the insight! One of my main concerns is whether or not Perl is already installed on the Jails or not? If not, any idea if a FreeBSD port is around? I am going to start googling on this to inform myself.

No software is installed in the jails by default. If a pkg/port requires it, it will automatically install it.

Nice! So, I just need to install Git and Gitolite then and they will install all dependancies? Sorry, if these are noob questions, I am new to FreeBSD, but have been around Windows, Mac and Linux for years.

Ah, thank you , I must have missed some of the fine details on my first read through of the Non-PBI Software install guide. Now, when I run "pkg install PACKAGE", does PACKAGE need to reside on the system somewhere or does it automatically go get it?

Ah, nevermind, it looks like the link to FreshPorts is embedded within "/usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/FreeBSD.conf ".
