formatting drives and creating a share

Hi All,

Need some advice please.

have installed FreeNAS 11 to my machine
I now need to format my 2 drives as a mirror.

Have read section 8 in the docs ... got a bit confused
have done FreeNAS university training modules 101 & 201 learnt a bit more about FreeNAS and how feature packed it is.

Still not 100% sure.

Went on you tube watched several videos these where mainly for freenas 8 not much available on FreeNAS 11.
but reading comments they range from good video to NO !!!!!! don't do this why oh why ........

In the meantime I had a feed back questionnaire from the training when I commented that still unsure the correct way to format my drives.
The response was cannot help consult to forums .. so here I am.

Volume Manager, add both disks, set volume layout to mirror, Add Volume. The manual seems pretty clear on this--what parts were confusing?

Do yourself a favor and do not watch any videos unless they were recommended in the forums. Most videos out there are just awful.

have printed section 8 off will have another go at the weekend was not that 100% sure after reading the manual on what to do with "volume manager"

@Ericloewe yep you are right on that that probably made things worse
