I have a stable and happy TN install running (mainly backups and media)

Supermicro X11SSL-F Xeon E3-1220 v6 @ 3.00GHz
32Gb ECC RAM,
64Gb Boot SSD.
4*3Tb Red RaidZ2 plus solo 4Tb as TM Backup location via 9211 PCIe SAS card

Beside it, a Win10 box performing other duties

Together with pfSense box, WIFI, network box and some home automation hubs, all via UPS, which I think takes it to about 300UKP power p.a. (Do power meter plugs work with a UPS installed???)

the pfSense box is going "lite" power tomorrow

Assuming it all works, it makes sense that a VM would take less power than a metal box doing the same thing (HP Proliant ML10 gen9), therefore worth transferring it to a VM?

Are there any tweaks to the TrueNAS box that'll save (sufficient) power to be worthwhile. Its stable so no intrinsic need to replace anything except "going green". (Capital expenditure important but less so than revenue)
